21 hopeful bands from all over the country converged at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO this weekend to take part in the 4th Annual National Single Microphone Championship. Each band was required to perform a total of 4 songs over the 2 days of competition in front of two sets judges and over 500 eager observers with nothing but a single condenser microphone between them and the audience. Song selection, audience response, appearance, technique, musicianship, and dynamics were all part of the criteria for the judges, and they had their work cut out for them with all of the incredibly talented groups that took the stage. But after the dust settled, the scores were tallied and the HillBenders came out on top once again with the victory, adding another championship title to our resume!!! |

First of all we would like to thank everyone who participated in the contest, the response was an overwhelming success! The entries poured in by the dozens from fans all over the country and the creativity you all displayed was incredible. Yesterday we deliberated for quite some time over all the submissions and we had a very difficult time picking our winners. We were so inspired by all the great entries that many of you will be contacted in the coming days about the possible use of your art on other future projects. We first narrowed down each category to a dozen or so contenders and then we voted for our favorites. After tallying the scores we had several worthy finalists, but we could only choose one in each category. Take a look at our winners by clicking "read more" below |

 That's right folks we just got confirmed for all 4 days at the Legendary Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS. If you have been to Winfield before you know this is the festival to make, especially in the midwest. And yes we hope to see you not only on the main stage but Stages 5 and 7 in the campground too. It's such a good time we hope to stay out of jail!!!! Hope to see you there....

 Big news!! The HillBenders just confirmed a booking at the legendary Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill, NY! Grey Fox is one of the most prestigious bluegrass festivals in the country, in fact it was selected as Event of the Year at the 2009 IBMA awards held in Nashville, TN. We are very excited to be a part of this years festival line-up, and we hope you all come out to join in the fun! We will be performing Thurs-Fri. July 15 & 16.  The HillBenders traveled to Nashville this Oct. to perform at the IBMA World of Bluegrass Convention and FanFest. Having secured multiple "After Hours" showcase performances at the event, the Benders had the opportunity to strut their stuff for many of the biggest industry professionals in attendance and the response was unbelievable!
